Despite Spending More Than $25 Million on TV Statewide and Starting A Negative Campaign, Krishnamoorthi is Losing Ground with Voters
WASHINGTON – A new poll from Public Policy Polling shows that with less than three weeks to Election Day, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton has closed the gap in the Illinois U.S. Senate Race and is now within two points of Raja Krishnamoorthi.
The movement comes despite Krishnamoorthi pouring more than $25 million into paid TV advertising since July and resorting to false, negative attacks against Stratton. Krishnamoorth is now losing ground with voters as Stratton continues to climb.
Stratton has the support of 27% of voters, a four-point gain from a PPP poll earlier this month showing her at 23% support. Krishnamoorthi has fallen from 34% in early February to 29% today. Robin Kelly remains in a distant third place with just 13% support.
Despite being massively out-communicated for months, Juliana’s momentum, standout debate performances, and growing coalition of support have narrowed Krishnamoorthi’s lead to just 2 points, within the margin of error. As voters continue to hear her message, they join her.
The poll also finds that Stratton leads in a 2-way match up with Krishnamoorthi, earning 37% to his 32%.
“The more voters learn about and hear from Juliana Stratton, the clearer it becomes – Stratton is best positioned to win this race,” said DLGA Executive Director Kevin Holst. “Her track record of working tirelessly on behalf of Illinois families and her willingness to stand up to Trump’s authoritarian regime are exactly the kind of leadership Democratic voters are looking for right now, and with just three weeks to go, her campaign has the momentum needed to propel her to victory.”
