DLGA Statement on the Florida Democratic Primary

WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association (DLGA) Executive Director Kevin Holst released the following statement congratulating David Jolly and Gwen Graham on their victory in the Florida Democratic primary:

“Tonight, Florida voters put their confidence in Gwen Graham to serve as the next Lt. Governor. A product of Florida’s public schools, Gwen began as a PTA president and school advisory council chair before going to work for Leon County Schools. In Congress, she worked across the aisle to keep oil rigs off Florida’s coastline and stood with John Lewis to demand action on gun violence, and she spent four years as Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education strengthening public schools for millions of children. At every stop, she has held herself to the same standard she asks of others: competence, character, and trust.

“Byron Donalds and the politicians running Tallahassee would rather fight culture wars than lower a single family’s bills, and Floridians are the ones paying for it – in their insurance premiums, their rent, their children’s classrooms, and their right to make their own health care decisions. David Jolly and Gwen Graham will bring down the cost of insuring and owning a home, reinvest in public schools, and restore the ethics Tallahassee has let slide. Florida can do better than this, and the DLGA is proud to back the Jolly-Graham ticket as they advance to November.”
