Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association (DLGA) Chair and Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis released the following statement on this morning’s shootings in Minnesota:
“On behalf of Democratic Lt. Governors across the country, we are deeply horrified and heartbroken by the targeted shootings that occurred this morning in Minnesota. We are grateful to the state and local law enforcement working tirelessly to keep those communities safe.
“We pray for the recovery of Senator Hoffman and his wife, and stand in solidarity with Lt. Governor Flanagan and all Minnesotans who are shaken and heartbroken by this brutal act. May Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman’s and Mark Hortman’s memory be a blessing.
“We can never allow political violence to be normalized. In a democracy, leaders must be free to govern without fear for their lives. We ask leaders at every level and on both sides of the aisle once again to speak out firmly against this horror and to recommit ourselves to peaceful and civil engagement.“
