DLGA Chair Peggy Flanagan Statement on the Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Flanagan: “Our freedoms are on the ballot in November”

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — Today, Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association Chair and Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan shared the following statement on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade:

“It’s simple: in this country, we have the constitutional right to make decisions about our own bodies – how, when, and if to start a family. Now, on the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we know that the overwhelming majority of Americans support the right to safe and legal abortion access more than ever before. But Donald Trump brags that he’s the one who ‘got rid of’ Roe v. Wade, and allowed MAGA Republican extremists across the country to pass draconian abortion bans that are hurting patients and threaten doctors.

“As Trump and MAGA Republicans continue to fight tooth-and-nail to take our freedoms away by pushing for a federal abortion ban, it’s more urgent than ever that we fight back. The best way to make our voice heard and to protect access to abortion is to vote for Democrats in November. Our sovereignty over our own bodies and our fundamental freedoms are on the ballot this year. Let’s vote for freedom.”
