Lahn’s pick for Lieutenant Governor spent his time in the Statehouse making it easier to pollute Iowa’s water, draining dollars from public schools, and weakening the watchdog that protects taxpayers
WASHINGTON – Today, Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn announced state Rep. Derek Wulf as his running mate for Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. In just two terms in the Iowa House, Wulf has built a record of siding with powerful special interests over Iowa families: he voted for the private school voucher program that drains funding from Iowa’s public schools, authored legislation to gut the state’s water quality protections, and voted to weaken the independent State Auditor’s office.
Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association (DLGA) Executive Director Kevin Holst released the following statement:
“Derek Wulf spent his time in the Statehouse putting powerful insiders and special interests ahead of Iowa’s families, farmers, and local communities – and Zach Lahn just made him his running mate. Wulf voted to siphon taxpayer dollars from Iowa’s public schools to private school vouchers, led the charge to make it nearly impossible to hold polluters accountable for fouling Iowa’s water, and voted to gut the powers of the independent State Auditor – the watchdog charged with rooting out waste and protecting taxpayers’ money.
