WASHINGTON, DC — With just over two weeks until Minnesota’s Democratic Senate primary, the Democratic Lt. Governors Association (DLGA) today launched two new ads featuring retiring Senator Tina Smith, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Senator Bernie Sanders making the case for Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan. Both spots – “Fighter” and “Stand Up” – will run on broadcast, cable and digital channels statewide through the August 11 primary. The buy is part of the DLGA’s ongoing investment in the Minnesota Senate race, which will hit nearly $3M within the next week.

While Angie Craig is propped up by millions in dark money and a rented coalition of special interests, Lt. Governor Flanagan has the trust of the leaders who’ve fought hardest for working families and the people of Minnesota behind her.”
“Fighter” is anchored by Sen. Smith, who endorsed Lt. Governor Flanagan in February after retiring from the seat and has since said she would “move hell or high water” to make her the next Senator from Minnesota. “Stand Up” features Warren, Smith, and Sanders touting Lt. Governor Flanagan as a champion for working families on the campaign trail. Warren first made that case in her endorsement and has since campaigned with Lt. Governor Flanagan across the state.
Lt. Governor Flanagan’s support runs deep in the U.S. Senate Democratic caucus, including Senators Ed Markey, Chris Murphy, Chris Van Hollen, Jeff Merkley, and Martin Heinrich, alongside Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Betty McCollum, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and more. As Lt. Governor, Flanagan helped deliver paid family and medical leave, free school meals for Minnesota kids, and a higher minimum wage.
Craig, by contrast, was the only Minnesota Democrat to vote for Trump’s bill handing ICE more power to detain Minnesotans without due process, and then voted to thank ICE while masked agents were terrorizing families across the country. She is being propped up by dark money groups, the cryptocurrency industry, and a data center billionaire, who have spent $20 million to date to try to buy the election for her.
The DLGA is the only organization of its kind with a dedicated program to build a strong Democratic bench, and support its members as they run for higher office.
